Pacquiao named fighter of the decade

Source : www.reuters.com

(Reuters) - Manny Pacquiao has been named fighter of the decade by the Boxing Writers Association of America on top of his third fighter of the year award.

SPORTS

The newly elected Philippines congressman was the overwhelming winner of the annual award after a year in which he sealed a record seventh weight division world title.

"I overflow with joy and gratitude," said Pacquiao in his acceptance speech in New York on Friday. "I am thankful that like Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier and others I got into boxing.

"I confronted poverty by trusting God and dreaming big. I was convinced I could succeed in boxing. The boxing ring could be the breeding ground for my dreams."

Pacquiao produced a devastating second-round knockout of Briton Ricky Hatton in May last year to win a light welterweight belt and stopped Miguel Cotto in November to win become world welterweight champion.

Pacquiao's promoter Bob Arum said he was working toward securing a blockbuster fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr to decide the unofficial title of world's best pound-for-pound boxer.

Talks between the two camps broke down earlier this year following Pacquiao's refusal to agree to Mayweather's demands for Olympic-style random drug testing.

The Filipino said he did not want blood drawn from him too close to a fight but has since relaxed his stance, saying that he would be willing to take a blood test 14 days before the bout.

Arum said the fight would likely take place in Las Vegas in November.

"Manny Pacquiao in Las Vegas is Frank Sinatra times a hundred," Arum said. "Nobody else can bring in the highest of the high-rollers."

My Opinion:

A well deserved award for the pride of the Filipino's. As no one has done what Manny Paquiao has done. Being a world champion on 7 weight class. Included on the hall of fame in boxing history. And had fought every fight given to him without hesitation.

Thumbs UP to Manny Paquiao and a standing ovation....

Photography : Infrared Photography

In infrared photography, the film or image sensor used is sensitive to infrared light. The part of the spectrum used is referred to as near-infrared to distinguish it from far-infrared, which is the domain of thermal imaging. Wavelengths used for photography range from about 700 nm to about 900 nm. Usually an "infrared filter" is used; this lets infrared (IR) light pass through to the camera, but blocks all or most of the visible light spectrum (the filter thus looks black or deep red).
When these filters are used together with infrared-sensitive film or sensors, very interesting "in-camera effects" can be obtained; false-color or black-and-white images with a dreamlike or sometimes lurid appearance known as the "Wood Effect," an effect mainly caused by foliage (such as tree leaves and grass) strongly reflecting in the same way visible light is reflected from snow[1]. There is a small contribution from chlorophyll fluorescence, but this is marginal and is not the real cause of the brightness seen in infrared photographs. The effect is named after the infrared photography pioneer Robert W. Wood, and not after the material wood, which does not strongly reflect infrared.
The other attributes of infrared photographs include very dark skies and penetration of atmospheric haze, caused by reduced Rayleigh scattering and Mie scattering, respectively, compared to visible light. The dark skies, in turn, result in less infrared light in shadows and dark reflections of those skies from water, and clouds will stand out strongly. These wavelengths also penetrate a few millimeters into skin and give a milky look to portraits, although eyes often look black.

This episode has many twist and turns involved which added more confusion to its viewers. Without this it would not be an episode of Ghost Whisperer. It adds up to the spice of each episode. The more characters involve the confusing it gets. But int the end it all boils down to a single solution. This is why I love watching each episode of Ghost Whisperer.

To rate this episode I'll give it an 8, for having a lot of twists on the story line.

Photography: Monochrome Photography

Monochrome photography is photography where the image produced has a single hue, rather than recording the colours of the object that was photographed. It includes all forms of black and white photography, which produce images containing tones of grey ranging from black to white. Most modern black and white films, called panchromatic films, record the entire visible spectrum. Some films are orthochromatic, recording visible light wavelengths shorter than 590 nanometres.

Black and white photography is considered more subtle and interpretive, and less realistic than colour photography. Monochrome images are not direct renditions of their subjects, but are abstractions from reality, representing colours in shades of grey. In computer terms, this is often called greyscale.

Monochrome images may be produced using black and white film or paper, or by manipulating colour images using computer software

T.V. : Ghost Whisperer Season 5 Episode 12

Title : Blessing in disguise

A very angry Ghost haunting the whole family and chasing them where ever they go. As Ned fall in love with the daughter of this haunted family. This family buy a new house and lot from Delia. Ned shows concern with regards to every time he gets involve with a girls it always turn out the girl is haunted or involved on a haunting.

Initially Melinda suspects the son was the one who is haunted by the ghost as Melinda sees premonition involving the son. But it turns out to be a misleading information. As Aiden was a sensitive he can sense all the feelings around him and pass it through his mother Melinda.

As I've mentioned from my last review from the previous episodes. A help from detective Blair will come in handy on solving Melinda's cases. As the family has no other records or background. Melinda and Delia got concern when they learned that this family might be hiding from the authorities. Ned decided to help by getting more closer to the daughter and getting her real identity. This information helps a lot on pin pointing the real identity of this family.

As the ghost was helping them to escape on time whenever authorities are about to help them, this is his way of making the whole family suffer. At the end when the family got pursued by an officer. A very intense scene by having the father sacrifice himself to be caught and have his whole family runaway. But the mother and daughter got tired of running away and decided to end their suffering by surrendering to the authorities.

When the ghost finally got a chance to confront the father of the family the truth about his death was known. For years of haunting the family the ghost believed that he was left for dead by the father of the family. But that was not the real story behind his death.

Very few intense scenes on this episode which will make you glued to your seats. The involvement of detective Blair is another key on revealing the truth.

Fine episode, but some dull moments here and there.
